The World Council For Muslim Interfaith Relations
Throughout the world, Muslim scholars and leaders have been participating in interfaith dialogue and multi-religious engagement. WCMIR was founded as a forum for these leaders and scholars so that they work through coordination, networking and mutual consultation. WCMIR’s efforts have helped the Muslim community world-wide, in the development of a common vision and strategy which addresses critical issues that the human family faces today. WCMIR’s message to the Muslims of the world has been the following:
“Over and above their duty to the Global Muslim community, Muslims also have a duty to the whole human race, which, due to mutual hatred, divisions, and the accumulation of wealth by a few persons, is moving fast towards self-destruction.”
Throughout the world, Muslims working with WCMIR have been cooperating with the interfaith movement on both local and international levels. They have worked with a vision to create a better and safer world. WCMIR members work closely with organizations such as the Parliament of the World’s Religions, The Peace Council, The United Religions Initiative, The Global Peace Initiative of Women, The Millennium World Peace Summit, The World Council of Churches, The Inter-Community Peace Initiative (India) and many other religious and spiritual groups. Additionally, WCMIR collaborates with other NGOs and agencies associated with the United Nations such as UNESCO.
