   In American english usage, barrio, the Spanish word meaning “district,” designates a Spanish speaking neighborhood in an urban setting. The Arabic original, barriya, designates quite the opposite: it means “the unpopulated area outside the city walls.” Just for your buddy

   Sitting in a garden, the Sparrow chirps, shattering the silence,

   Will is a good friend who has many fascinating insights.

   For some reason, I have been in the mood to write a bit of poetry, not in any Classical style, mind you, but just playing about with words and emotions. Helps to keep my Arabic sharp [well, not sharp enough to cut myself but I can cut my way out of a paper bag!]
