   Seeing the video made me miss The ATL!!!

   The Lady Caliphs were also on NPR a few months ago discussing their transformation from last place to first. Not only do they wear scarves and sweats while playing basketball but did you notice the cheerleaders who also wear scarves and sweats!! KRKM (Keeping it Real/Keeping it Muslim)

   For just a little more background, WD Mohammed is a small high school in Atlanta with less than 100 students total. The small numbers essentially require students to become involved and it pays off handsomely in athletics and academics (their studies include everything from Arabic and Islamic philosophy to calculus).

   The boys basketball team has held its own for years with much larger schools in Georgia. I coached the mock trial team at the school for over two years and Praise Allah last year WD Mohammed’s team was the city champ. The same students on the basketball team are also on the soccer team, the mock trial team, etc. and they are all showing the city, state (and ultimately the country and the world) the true meaning of Islam.

   I don’t know if they have jerseys for sale but it’s a good idea!!

   Fatimah. As-Salaamu ‘alaykum. Thanks for the great info. That’s awesome that you coached the team. In sha Allah, they can continue to inspire us.
