Congradulations To Me
October 21, 2003 | 25 Shaban 1424

Well, after much speculation and sweating, I made it into the photography program at MATC. Hooray for me. I will begin printing this coming week in order to get myself preped for the coming year. Now all I have to do is figure out what my class schedule’s going to be. Happy, happy, joy, joy.

Wise Prophecies From the Dalai Lama
October 20, 2003 | 24 Shaban 1424

Comandante and companion, Pat, sent this to me in an e-mail. We shall see as to how wise this Dalai Lama is:

“…The Dalai Lama said read it to see if it works for you. Very interesting. Just 4 questions and the answers will surprise you. Do not cheat by looking
up the answers…” I most certainly did not cheat. We shall see if I make a liar out of Mr. Lama.

Make a wish before beginning the test!! - I have.

A Warning! Answer the questions as you go along. There are only four
questions. I can attest that I answered them all honestly.

Personality test: Put the following five animals in the order of your preference and write one word that describes each one of the following:

  • Horse
  • Tiger
  • Sheep
  • Cow
  • Pig

Write one word that describes each one of the following:

  • 1. dog - companion
  • 2. cat - sneeze
  • 3. rat - trap
  • 4. coffee - bathroom
  • 5. sea - big

Think of someone (who also knows you and is important to you) that you can relate to the following colors. Name just one person for each color.

  • Yellow: María
  • Orange: me
  • Red: Jason
  • White: Zang
  • Green: Rebeca

Finally, write down your favorite number and your favorite day of the week.

  • Favorite number: 2
  • Favorite day of the week: Sunday

Wish for something you really want: “An
endless supply of soft-scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. Hmm, hmm. I
can smell them now!”

Here is how the Dalai Lama interpreted my information:

Item # 1: This will define your priorities in your life.

  • Horse Signifies FAMILY - Aww…, isn’t that sweet?
  • Tiger Signifies PRIDE - What are you trying to say, Mr. Lama?
  • Sheep Signifies LOVE - Yo!, that’s just messed up.
  • Cow Signifies CAREER - Ahh…, what again?
  • Pig Signifies MONEY - Damn!!, he’s totally right!

Item # 2:

  • Your description of dog implies YOUR OWN PERSONALITY. - So you’re saying I’m my own best friend? Oh!, that’s original
  • Your description of cat implies the personality of your PARTNER. - Ahh, baby, I don’t mean nuthin’ by that. Honest…
  • Your description of rat implies the personality of your ENEMIES. - Yeah, I like that. Very Sun Tzu.
  • Your description of coffee is how you interpret SEX. - Whoa. Perhaps
these aren’t best for the public forum.
  • Your description of the Sea implies your own LIFE. - Duh, I’m really big Mr. Lama? Sheesh…

Item # 3:

  • Yellow: Someone you will never forget - See María! And you say I never do anything for you.
  • Orange: Someone you consider your true friend - I’m beginning to
sound kinda narcissistic Lama! (What kinda name is Lama anyway’s?)
  • Red: Someone that you really love - Jason. Oh…, no… Hey, man. I didn’t write this shit.
  • White: Your twin soul - Zang. I always knew you was my boy. Right on!
  • Green: Someone that you will remember for the rest of your life - See baby!! We was meant to be, yo!

Item # 4: You have to send this message to as many persons as your favorite number and your wish will come true on the day that you put. This is what the Dalai Lama has said about the Millennium-just take a few seconds to read it and think.

Man, I don’t know. This Lama character needs a little practice. Not exactly battin’ a .1000 if you know what I mean. That’s some pretty wack-ass shit he just came up with off the top of his shiny, bald head. Yo, Lama! I didn’t appreciate that shit you said about my woman so the next time I see you, you ‘best have my eggs and bacon or it’s on!

O’ Global E-Mail, How I Love Thee
October 16, 2003 | 20 Shaban 1424

“…Hello, past Friday I went home and miss placed my shoe. If perhaps it fell into the Regina parking lot and someone picked it up let me know. It is the right foot, American Eagle, size 7. Thanks for your help - Bethany…” If you have seen this shoe, please contact Bethany immediately so I don’t have to receive anymore stupid e-mails like this one in my inbox. In my experience I have found that caning can usually resolve these petty issues.

I Ain’t Seen You In A Minute
October 16, 2003 | 20 Shaban 1424

I was digitally digging through some old stuff of mine on my computer and came across some great, old poetry by Robert E. Howard, the creator of such colorful characters as Conan the Cimmerian and Kull the Conquerer. Howard never received his due, I believe, in part because he was a pulp writer. The film adaptation of his short stories of Conan the Cimmerian into Conan the Barbarian didn’t help either. But I highly value his writings, especially his poetry. He was a gifted writer who unfortunately just didn’t live long enough. To learn more about the author check it out here. See here for Road of Kings :::

When It Rains It Pours
October 15, 2003 | 19 Shaban 1424

This appear to have just broken down into some sort of primordial daycare here at the office. Any chance of real work getting done today went out the window as soon as Devin started playing Celebrity Jeopardy and Space Ghost Coast-To-Coast. Man o’ man.

Trying’ to make a change in my day gig, too. Got’s ta keep it on the hush-hush ’cause we ain’t in a rush-rush but we’ll see how things pan out.

Burn-Out
October 09, 2003 | 13 Shaban 1424

If I were a metallurgist I would say that my time doing IT-support is past the stages of showing stress fractures and looks as if she’s about to tear apart. Yeah, I’m way past my time to move on. I need to be shooting/designing full-time. I know this, I know this, I know this. But…, I have un-wisely placed myself in the clutches of debt and now must dig myself out of this pit. “Will I be able to make it without a 9-5?” “Should I stay on another year and save money (even though this was our plan last year and here I am still)?” Ahh, the trappings of society. How I long for the time when my days will be fueled by my creative fire instead of someone else’s ineptness at the workstation. But just as all good things must come to an end, hopefully so can too, bad things.
