On October 31st, 2007, I spoke at the William Penn Charter School. I have had the pleasure of being a recurring guest speaker at this unique Quaker school where I gave a talk about the role of religion in identity formation, specifically on how Islam relates to the molding of Blackamerican Muslim identities. My talk explored the reasons why Islam continues to appeal to Blackamericans while it remains a distance, foreign, or even hostile enterprise to much of the rest of America.
